The Performing Arts Program at MacGregor plays a significant role in the daily life of our school. The program includes 3 different strands. These include: Instrumental Music, Dance and the Choral Program (singing and speech choirs).
School Musical

Performing Arts Excellence
Music Excellence
Advanced instrumental music students in Year 5 and Year 6 are invited to apply for the Music Excellence program.
As an extension activity, this program complements existing theoretical knowledge and practical skills learnt in the Classroom Music and Instrumental Music programs, while simultaneously providing students with an opportunity to develop and refine advanced performance, musicianship, composition and musicology skills.
Students will be exposed to a wide variety of musical styles and explore performance genres as a soloist and in small and large ensembles.
Selection Criteria:
The following criteria need to be met for students to be eligible for the program:
- Currently learning an instrument through the Instrumental Music Program OR learning privately and playing at approximately an AMEB Grade 4 standard or higher.
- Students currently achieving at a very high standard in Classroom Music and consistently showing a very high level of effort in all classes.
- Students with a strong sense of commitment, motivation and dedication to both their instrument and the Performing Arts at MacGregor.
- Students who are committed to all academic learning areas and will not suffer from additional lost time with their usual classroom teacher.
