MacGregor has a thriving classroom music program that is delivered to all students from Prep through to Year 6. Taught by Miss McIntyre and Miss Eadie, students receive a weekly classroom music lesson where they participate in a range of engaging performing, composing and activities aligned to the Australian Curriculum. The program is based largely on the kodaly philosophy of Music education, while also incorporating many instruments including Xylophone, Ukulele, Djembe Drums and music technology on iPads.
The classroom music program provides all students with an opportunity to begin their musical learning journey. Many students use the knowledge and experience learnt in classroom music lessons as the basis of their further learning in the Strings and Band programs at MacGregor.
