Our school offers three Sporting Excellence and Development programs.

1. Track and Field Excellence Program

During Semester One, we offer a 7-8 week Track and Field Excellence Program that is designed to develop and enhance the individual skills of our targeted athletes. Students are selected in the program based on a strict set selection criteria.

The aim of this program is to:

  1. Produce a strong group of school athletes that represent MacGregor State School at the Mt Gravatt Track and Field Carnival.
  2. Develop the athletes and give them the best chance at gaining selection in District, Regional and State Representation Teams.

2. Touch Football Excellence and Development Programs

In Semester Two, the sporting excellence program turns its attention to touch football. The 11 week program has a primary focus of preparing Girls and Boys teams to compete at the Queensland Primary All Schools Touch Championships held annually in November. The program also aims to improve the school's overall performance in the Mt Gravatt Inter School Sport Program and improve the chances of those students seeking representative honours in the sport of touch football.

The Touch Excellence program runs with assistance from the Runcorn High School Touch Academy through access to their highly qualified coaches, experienced players and the opportunity to participate in the Runcorn Blues Touch Carnival held at the end of Term 3.

Running alongside the Touch Excellence Program is a Development Program that brings targeted younger students together to expose them to the skills and language used in the game of touch football.

3. AFL Excellence and Development Program

The program is aimed at developing MacGregor into a leading swimming school. The goal is to produce swimmers that can perform at high levels to be competitive at Mount Gravatt District Carnivals , Metroploitan East Regional Carnivals and Queensland qualifying standards.

Starting in Term 4 MacGregor students will be identified using selection criteria  as swimmers that have potential to achieve success. After trials a 7-8 week training schedule begins in Term 4.  This program continues in Term 1 the following year.
