Last week we held the regional heats for this year's Fanfare.
The festival showcases school bands and orchestras from across Queensland state schools and focuses on:
- Improving ensemble performance quality
- Encouraging participation
- Promoting excellence in instrumental music
- Providing performance and adjudication opportunities for students and teachers

These outstanding achievements reflect the dedication, musicianship, teamwork, and countless hours of practice. The Instrumental Music Program at MacGregor State School has a long tradition of musical excellence, with its ensembles consistently performing at a very high standard in competitions and festivals.
Instrumental Fanfare is Queensland’s premier statewide festival for school bands and orchestras, celebrating excellence in ensemble performance and showcasing the achievements of thousands of young musicians across the state. A total of 8500 students have participated in this event across the State over the last two weeks.
It is also important to note that very few primary schools in Metro South have bands, orchestras and ensembles in Division One, which is the top category. Six out of the nine ensembles that played from our school sit in the Division One category. This is something that the entire school community should be very proud of. Congratulations to the Music Staff who have prepared the students for their performances, what you achieve is truly remarkable.
Well done to every performer, conductor, teacher, and supporter who contributed to this remarkable success. Your awards are a testament to your commitment, passion, and pursuit of excellence in music. May this achievement inspire even greater accomplishments in the years ahead.
